It should be noted that one additional student was able to receive this scholarship in 2015 thanks to the generous contribution of the scholarship’s founder, Ed Monk.

“When Mr. Monk established this scholarship many years ago, one student (the child of a KDMC team member), was selected annually for the award to help them pursue a nursing career,” said Leslee McLeod, Health Foundation executive director. “Mr. Monk’s continued contributions and commitment to this scholarship enabled us to award three students last year and four this year. We cannot be more thankful,” said McLeod.

McLeod said many accomplished students submitted applications this year for the awards. “It’s always very tough for our judges to determine the scholarship recipients,” she said. “Our region has been blessed with intelligent, talented and community-minded youth which always makes the field of applications very competitive. We are pleased to award these scholarships and wish these students great success in this new chapter of their lives.”

King’s Daughters Health Foundation exists to build financial support for King’s Daughters Medical Center as it strives to meet the growing needs of our community.
