Strike Out Stroke comes to Boyd-Greenup game April 13

Baseball fans, parents and the public will be asked to help Strike Out Stroke at the Boyd County High School-Greenup County High School baseball game 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at Boyd County.

It is the fifth year King’s Daughters has sponsored the Strike Out Stroke program, raising awareness of stroke signs, symptoms and risk factors. Participants receive a free screening for blood pressure and blood sugar as well as stroke education.

Stroke survivors are encouraged to attend the game.

“Not so long ago, stroke survivorship was not so common,” said Polly Hunt, RN, stroke program coordinator for King’s Daughters. “Today, not only is surviving a stroke more common, but people are experiencing better outcomes because of the increased awareness and technological advances.”

Still, there is much the public doesn’t know about stroke. Strike Out Stroke is an opportunity for the public to ask health professionals about stroke and the steps they can take to reduce their risk.

King’s Daughters Medical Center is a Joint Commission-certified Stroke Center.
