At King’s Daughters, we understand and are committed to doing everything we can to make the experience of healthcare as stress-free as possible for you and your loved ones.
Our goal is to work with you, not only for your better health, but also for your peace of mind. We offer financial counselors, easy to understand billing, financial assistance and other programs to make the entire process as simple as possible.
Just ask. We will help.
Making Care Affordable
Each year, UK King’s Daughters provides assistance to thousands of patients who are struggling financially to afford healthcare.
If you are unable to afford your care, please contact our Financial Counselors as soon as possible so that we can help you sign up for government programs that can help, identify resources to assist, walk you through setting up payment plans, or possibly reduce your financial obligation.
For those who qualify, we may be able to write off as much as 100% of your bill, based on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines.
To begin the process, please complete the Financial Assistance Application Form electronically on MyChart, printing the form via the link above or by calling 606-408-4118.
Once completed, you may submit your application:
- Electronically via MyChart
- By dropping it off at the Cashier’s Office located just inside in the Main Entrance on the first floor of the Ashland campus.
- By mailing it to us in the envelope provided
- Faxing it to us at 606-408-6917
- By email to: [email protected]
If you have any questions about the form or the information required, please call 606-408-4118 or toll-free 1-866-408-6466. Once we have received and reviewed your application, a member of our team will contact you for additional information or clarification.
Undestanding Your Bill
Our Patient Billing Office assists patients, insurance companies, physicians' offices and hospital departments by managing patient accounts for King’s Daughters and its subsidiaries, including:
- UK King’s Daughters Medical Center (Ashland)
- King's Daughters Medical Center Ohio
- King’s Daughters Home Health
- UK King’s Daughters Family Care Centers
- UK King’s Daughters Integrated Practices
- UK King’s Daughters Occupational Medicine
One of the most important things the Patient Billing Team does for patients is submit claims to your insurance company(s) for you. To do this as efficiently as possible, our team asks that you provide us with the necessary information that will assist in filing your claim:
- Your current address
- Your current telephone number
- Copies of your insurance card(s)
- A photo ID, such as a drivers license
- Your Social Security number
- Your date of birth
If your insurance(s) requires pre-certification/pre-authorization, please be sure to let us know when you register. Many insurance companies will not pay, or will greatly reduce payment for, procedures that are not pre-certified/authorized.
Payment for costs not covered by your insurance plan will be billed to you after the insurance company has paid its share.
Please be aware that in addition to your bill for hospital services, you may receive bills for professional services from physicians involved in your care. This may include bills from radiologists, pathologists, emergency room physicians, anesthesiologists, etc.
Deductibles and Co-Pays
We are required by most insurance companies to collect deductibles and co-payments up front – when services are provided. If you have any questions about what your plan requires or your financial obligation under your insurance plan, please check with your employer or insurance company.
Patient billing is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can contact our team by calling 606-408-4446 or toll-free at 1-877-420-3555.
