Knee pain can be caused by a sudden injury, an overuse injury, or by an
underlying condition, such as arthritis. Treatment will vary depending
on the cause. Knee pain is the most common musculoskeletal complaint that
brings people to the doctor.

Our Rapid Recovery program helps!
King’s Daughters Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Rapid Recovery program
helps patients recover from knee, hip and other joint surgery more quickly,
with less pain and more complete restoration of function following joint
replacement surgery. The Rapid Recovery team includes nurses, physical
therapists and an orthopaedic nurse navigator.

Much of the program’s success can be attributed to the personal coach,
who motivates the patient to reach their goals quickly, safely and with
less stress.
The coach (spouse, family member or friend):
Attends Joint School education class with the patient
Attends appointments with the patient before surgery
Attends therapy sessions during the hospital stay
Is available for discharge instructions and medication review in the hospital
Accompanies the patient to therapy and office visits or helps arrange transportation
Surgeons, physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants see
patients in Kentucky including Ashland, Grayson, Prestonsburg and Flatwoods;
in Ohio including Portsmouth, Wheelersburg and Jackson.
