Details:

ACLS-EP goes beyond core ACLS training by offering critical thinking opportunities for advanced, experienced healthcare professionals who use ACLS on a regular basis. The goal is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovasular, respiratory and other (e.g. metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies. Through cooperative learning and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of preaarest, arrest and postarrest patients.

About the Course:

The ACLS EP class reflects 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. THe ACLS EP course has continued basis on:

  • 2013 American College of Cardiology Foundation/AHA Guidelines for Management of ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction
  • 2012 ACCF/AHA Focused Update on Management of Patients With Unstable Angina/Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction.

Who Should Take This Course:

This course is for seasoned healthcare providers proficient in performing BLS and ACLS skills; reading and interpeting ECG's; understanding ACLS pharmacology; and who regularly lead or participate in emergency assessment and treatment of prearrest, arrest or postarrest patients.

Course Features:

  • Uses case-based scenarios to move beyond algorithms showing learners how to apply critical thinking to reach a differential diagnosis and effectively manage treatment.
  • More cases and info on pharmacology, toxicology, respiratory, and metabolic disease.
  • Includes 68 scenarios: prehosital; ED; and inhospital scenarios, allowing the course to be customized to meet needs of learners
  • ACLS Provider exam is to be completed online on the AHA website before class, you need to print certificate off and bring to class with you, this allows learners more time to share and learn from peers.

Course Fees:

This course is free for paramedics; King's Daughters RNs; and medical staff members.The fee for all others is $250. Medics, RNs should have at least 3 years experience. You must turn in certificate from online test, successfully complete BLS, Megacode and airway skills checkoffs at the beginning of class to be able continue in class.

Students should pick training manuals up at least 72 hours in advance to class. There is a minimum of 3 students per AHA guidelines or we will have to cancel the class.

Team Members: Pick up is at CPR Training Center, 2432 Carter Ave. Ashland. You will need to sign book out (Payroll deduction forms have to be filled out when checking book out) If you fail to turn book back in at end of class you will be charged for the book. ACLS-EP is a benefit provided to King's Daughters Team Members at no charge.

Community: Pick up is at CPR Training Center, 2432 Carter Ave. Ashland. Course Fees are due at the time manuals are picked up. Fees are non-refundable.

Tardiness: AHA courses adheres to strict instruction guidelines. Therefore, anyone arriving more than 10 minutes late to class will be denied participation.
